John Ward 1935 - 2021

 

John Ward lived & painted in

the High Peak of Derbyshire.  He has exhibited

around the country including

Manchester; Salford; Liverpool; Southport;

Derby and London including the R.A..

John was on the teaching staff of Salford School of Art from 1959 to 1961 where he taught drawing.  He taught drawing and printmaking at Manchester College of Art and Design from 1960 to 1964 and then moved to Stockport College of Art and Design where he taught printmaking and drawing until 1993.

 

John has had work purchased by a number of galleries as well as by private individuals in the U.K.; Canada; Germany; Norway and the Middle East.  He has also been awarded a number of medals by Derbyshire County Council who run the Derbyshire Open Art Exhibition.  These include: The Dracca Trophy in 1995; the Oil Painting Prize in 1996 and 2009 as well as commendations in 1988 & 1994.

 

In  2001 John was presented with a commemorative plaque by the Consul of Pakistan in Manchester, Mr Jamil Ahmad, following John`s exhibition of paintings of Pakistan, first at Stockport Art Gallery and then by special request at Karim`s restaurant on Mr Ahmad`s promotion and therefore move from the U.K..
